Visitors Welcome!

We've had so many visitors already! I wish I'd taken a picture of everyone that's been by or brought us food so that Caden could look back and see all the friendly faces of the ones that have helped us through his first week home! It's definitely an adjustment having two kids instead of one, but we couldn't have timed it better. Kenzie really is alot of help to us! She just wishes we'd let her fawn all over her baby brother more!

Our first family photo!

Aunt Kathie and Jenny came by one afternoon on their way to the movies. Thanks again for the chocolate covered strawberries, Kathie!! (For ME, not Caden haha)

Kristin and Van hung out with us one night and brought chili for supper. YUM.

Just hanging out with their niece and nephew!

Play time!

Tummy time!

Ace is making sure no bad guys get us.
Stay tuned for some super cute fall pictures!!!

Long awaited homecoming!!

In the words of Daughtry, "I'm going home, to the place where I belong..."
After 12 days in the NICU/NCCU, he finally gets to come home!!! The nurses and doctors assured us he wouldn't be going home until he was 100% so visitors are welcome as long as there's no chance of illness and everyone washes their hands! We are THRILLED to finally get to take Caden home to meet his big sister and puppy Ace and all of our family and friends!

This is Elizabeth, Caden's NICU nurse. She was AMAZING!

I forget how tiny newborns are!! We're going to need reinforcement here!

Waiting for our chauffer aka Daddy to pick us up!

She was actually speechless...for about 3 seconds. Then she was all over him!

Introducing Caden to Ace, he's already very protective of Caden!

Sleeps just like Kenzie did/does! Always has those hands by his head!

Barbara was there for a few minutes before heading back to Linden. My mom and dad had come to take Kenzie to Zoo Boo so we were excited that Caden got to come home when he did so they could see him for a little while!

She is an AMAZING big sister. She helps us feed him, and is an awesome "go-fer"!

More pictures coming soon!!!!!!

A Wacky Week!

Barbara and I took Kenzie to Sweet and Sassy for her first "big girl" haircut!! No more "monster rats" in this girl's hair! She's very happy with it.

Before...

...and after!!

A gorgeous afternoon to play outside! Don't you love her outfit, Pop?

We brought Caden home that afternoon (see upcoming blogpost), so Nana and Pop took Kenzie to the Zoo Boo for some quality Kenzie-time.

She LOVES her flowery fairy costume!

Bippity-boppity-BOO

She was not a fan of this mummy, especially when the cobwebs grabbed her wings!

Worn out!!! But she woke up as soon as they got home and she could get her hands on Caden again!

Happy One Week Birthday, Caden!

Caden is a week old TODAY! He's making slow, but steady progress. He's still in an incubator, trying to regulate his own body temperature. He took 3 or 4 bottles without the tube, but had to have the tube put back in this morning (I held him) because those few feedings tuckered him out. But he's getting there. He's down to 5 lbs 14 oz, but that's normal. Kenzie had lost more than that when she was his age.
Allison and Cindy Burgess came to visit us the night before we checked out of the hospital. They were just checking up on their latest child! Allison is our sitter when we need a night out and Cindy has kept Kenzie during the day since she was 8 weeks old! She can't wait to have Caden all to herself!

He was so alert this day!! I think he may have been 3 days old.

A very proud Pop :)

Ahhhh...full tummy.

Everytime I see this picture I think of him singing the opening line of the SpongeBob song, "OHHHHHHH...Who lives in a pineapple under the sea..."

Caden's silly big sister, still patiently waiting for him to come home so she can love on him!

She helped her Nana bake us a pie!

She is so good for me. I look tired, I know, but she makes me smile everytime I see her.

Grandma came to stay with us yesterday and will play with Kenzie all week!
